YA Guardian Opinion Piece It's a worrying day for me when I agree with Martin Amis. I particularly like the reference at the end to "species-conciousness". Do you have "species-consciousness"?

Thinking of the victims, the perpetrators, and the near future, I felt species grief, then species shame, then species fear.

Reading this line I felt species sickness. It felt like the uneasiness associated with paying to see "Species".

Not sure why you would "disagree" with a novelist unless you mean when he writes non-fiction. In any case, see yestrdays' NY Times Science Section for Altrusim, that is at its best in our species...perhps then you will know what Amis refers to.
