Pop Pilgrims : "When the AV Club Travels, we always make time to visit pop culture landmarks. If something memorable happened in the world of film, tv, books, or music, we want to go there. We're not just tourists, we're POP PILGRIMS." posted by crunchland (13 comments total) 5 users marked this as a favorite

Perhaps not so coincidentally, a lot of these are the same locations visited by the Angry Video Game Nerd on his travels. (i.e. Ghostbusters firehouse, Rocky stairs, BTTF locations, etc.)

Still an awesome project, though.

Love this, long-time reader of the A.V. Club. They also have a great series called A.V. Undercover where bands come in and cover a list of songs selected by the readers.

My favorite so far is the Rocky stairs in Philadelphia. While they're filming, a couple of school buses pull up and waves of children run up the stairs and fist pump.

Apparently World War Z is filming where I live within the next few weeks. Long way to go before iconicness though.

I want to like this but like every single AV Club thing now it's one part content eighteen part ads. Does not cross the annoyance threshold.

The dude who drives the airport shuttle from Atlanta to Athens, GA is totally capable of giving an impromptu "REM Landmarks" tour, it turns out. Highly recommended.

When they filmed Inception, Maurice Fischer's rooms were literally right across the street from us.

They were so close, the lights they were using to film lit up our living room at night.
I guess you can go visit them.

ButI probably shouldn't talk as there exists a photo of me sitting on the steps of Sunnydale High.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and in fact is is awesome and I'm totally jealous.
