The End is a charming flash platformer geared towards young adults which integrates strategy, puzzles and philosophical questions into a world that explores a range of views about mortality.

It feels like gaming is inching toward something... and maybe this one nudges it along. I have to say my favorite games these days are the one that are reaching... they may not get all the way there but for now, I'm happy knowing there's designers out there who are paying attention to milestones like Braid.

...geared towards young adults...

Is there a specific age range which is allowed to play this game, or can anyone actually check it out?

Anyone can play. It just engages the intellect on a generally young-adult level. If you're well-versed in various ways different cultures understand and deal with mortality it'll seem very simplistic to you. If, like me, you've entertained a passing interest but invested no real scrutiny in such matters, it can provide some insight. The intent is to be informative and engaging for young adults though, caveat emptor.

Past all that, the gameplay is smooth and the shadow/light function is fun.

That weird vacuum cleaner turned off and on for a second sound is super annoying though.

Interesting game. Original. Reaching towards something, as victors said.

winna, if you save, leave the game, and come back, that sound will go away. It was almost a dealbreaker for me, too.

In order to save the game, you have to give them your facebook account or email address. I cannot play this game.

Yeah, I didn't hook in with my FB or email or wevs either. It'll save your game via cookie automatically though, so you can go back and resume at the spot you left off on the same computer.

You can make up a fake email address and get saves that way.

Or just click the incredibly tiny "skip this step" button on the facebook/email harvest screen.

Am I just incompetent, or does the third level in each of the three guardian platformer levels get insanely hard?

I can't figure out how to beat them, so I went into the questions and answered them all that way.

For a second, I thought it was *really* clever, and that it would be over once the fireball hit. Like, you go through your character creation and everything... Then run across one level and the game is over.
