I'm happy they put Robot Jones in there. Others I liked/got: Calculon, the Joan Rivers-voiced android from Spaceballs, a Transformer, the robot cat and mouse from a Chuck Jones-era Tom & Jerry cartoon, Twikki, Kryten, Clank, the robot from Yo Gabba Gabba, 7-Zark-7, H.E.R.B.I.E., B.O.B. and Maximilian, the Robot from Lost in Space, Robbie the Robot, robot Maria, the dog-droid from the original Battlestar Galactica, one of the robots from The Matrix, K-9 (two versions?), the Android mascot, Bubo from Clash of the Titans (but isn't he more of a magical construct, like a golem, than a robot?), Marvins old and new, Rosie the Maid, Tom Servo, Robotman, GIR, the main character from that teenage robot show (I've only seen like ten seconds of it), Ultraman, Jimmy Neutron's dog, R2D2 and C3P0, Rodney Copperbottom, The Tin Man (also more of a magical construct), robot Bill and Ted, what I think is one of the little robots from Batteries Not Included, Sam (from Sesame Street) Conky 2000, a Dalek, the robot butler from Sleeper, what I think is ED 209, Thundercleese, Bender and EVE (took me a while to pick them out), and I think I see Robin William's character from Bicentennial Man in there.

There's about a dozen more that sort of ring a bell but I can't place.

Win a signed poster print of Richard's 'Where's WALL-E?' art! How many robots can you identify? Use the guide picture to name as many as you can. The most correct robots will win a poster. Answers to richard@hopewellstudios.com. Closing date for entries 31st August 2011.
We seem to be inadvertently crowdsourcing an entry for that contest. If we collectively win, can we split the poster 130,000 ways? (even just among the mefites participating in this thread, we'd be cutting it down to 2-3 bots each)

This is great. Clearly a family orientated illustration, but I still feel like Kryten should be vacuuming something.

Also, both Marvins (old and new) make an appearance, along with old and new cylons. The tin man is clearly not a robot, as in not a mechanical man. He is rather a man with a tin body. Or maybe a tin body animated by a human soul. Or something like that. Tiktok, on the other hand, is entirely mechanical.

Personally, I think the game should have been "Where's Wesley", and the answer would be everyone except Mr. Butlertron.

Of course, then we'd have to accept that a name given to a robot counts as a canonical reference to that robot no matter who gives it the name or how many people use said name. On the other hand, I'm willing to believe that we all live in a universe of Mr. Butlertron's dreaming.

...actually, now I'm sad. I want that to be true.

It looks like I got possibly two that Reddit didn't get yet. I'm happy about that at least, considering their list is just about done.

I love how many obscure robots were in the mix.

The fact that Gog was in there, the multi-armed monster of one of my most joyously traumatic childhood movie experiences (OMG they froze that guy and then he BROKE!) made me scream just a little bit.

#154 is Sgt. Bash from Robot Wars UK. I'm a little disappointed they didn't include Matilda - I mean, mutant robot dinosaur with a chainsaw tail? What's not to love?

#178 is a DRD from Farscape, made famous by their ability to sing the 1812 overture.

Anything that includes Mr. Butlertron warms my heart, I wish there was a Scud too though.

Just to add to the list (if that is indeed the goal at this point) if for no other reason than to show those Reddit folks who's boss. (haven't looked at their list yet)

#7 is Chani from "Devil Girl From Mars"
#9 is a Venutian robot from "Target Earth"
#13 is Carl from "Meet the Robinsons"
#16 is a Volkite from "The Undersea Kingdom" serials.
#27 is Tobor The Great
#143 is Newman from "And You Thought Your Parents Were Weird"

I just spotted "Noo-noo" the vacuum from TELETUBBIES (the blue guy just to the left of Tom Servo), and M-E, the guy who kept trying to clean up after WALL-E, in the front row.

And is that thing in the row right before C-3P0, the squid-looking thing with a ton of red eyes -- is that one of the Sentinels from THE MATRIX?

Oh -- and the saucer-type thing hovering in front of Movie-version Marvin the Android -- is that one of the thingies from BATTERIES NOT INDLUDED?

1 - Robot from Laputa

174, 175 - Chuck Jones' robot Tom and Jerry

My Vincent figurine (the robot from The Black Hole movie) was one of my favorite toys as a child. I loved the way its head and hover pods would retract and extend. I'd forgotten all about it for a long time. So thanks for that.

Needs more comic book robots.

There are a few of them in there that are not robots. They also include Bad Robot, which is Abram's production company logo and is like a three second clip. Which hardly gets a pass.

It's Red Robot.

This is just like those lists you see of "100 Best SF Novels" or "50 Awesome Movies In Latvian" which just end up in a big nerdgasm shoutfest of I-can't-believe-they-did/didn't-include-this.

Only nerdier.
