"...featuring Amy Wong as a kickass Ghostbuster..."

The artists of Draw2D2 are given two "geeky things" based on a monthly theme, and then have two weeks to create mash-up illustrations. Art is posted every other Thursday at 12:00pm EST, with a poll for the public to vote for their favorites. Artists with the most votes can show their process in a spotlight post.

Currently up for a vote: DC / James Bond. In 8 days, Thundercats / Quentin Tarantino.

Previous mashups include:

* Harry Potter / Dr. Who
* Star Wars / Pirates of the Caribbean (Part of Star Wars Month)
* Captain America / The Rocketeer
* Futurama / Ghostbusters
* The Avengers / The Office
* Tars Tarkas / Pixar

There's also a "Captain's Blog" which highlights found videos and artwork, like The Schwarzenegger Trilogy, an animated short consisting of 1600 hand-drawn frames using highlighter markers: Vimeo / YouTube.

I love this idea. Really thought the Ghostbusters mashups needed more Zoidberg.

Why is "geek culture" monolithic? Is there a single person on the planet who likes all fourteen of those things?

thanotopsis: I suspect you'll greatly enjoy the story of Gungan whaler George R. Binks, written and illustrated by Tony Millionaire.
