Notes for new students by Gwyn Alf Williams. Good advice for those of us just starting college courses. Or making contributions to community weblogs.

My favourite is point four under "Writing", since Gwyn Alf broke every one of these rules himself, when it suited his purposes as the self-styled "People's Remembrancer". Also, the bit at the end sounds like Yoda.
Cite evidence to support your contentions. Loud assertion is no substitute for argument. Neither is windy generalisation. On the other hand, don’t overload your text. The balance you must seek.

The most important "rule" of all ignored: always use primary sources.

Handy suggestions.

I'll make sure to forget them as soon as I leave my desk.
