The H2O Gate Blues

In 1973 a struggling America was still dealing with the watergate scandal. The than 24 year old Gill Scott-Heron wrote a topical song that still applies today. It is called H20 Gate Blues.

"Winter in America" is a powerful, genuinely moving record - the mix of small, sweet human kindnesses ("Your Daddy Loves You"), unblinking self-analysis ("The Bottle") and political rage still feels like a map to a better, saner place 20+ years after I first heard it.
