Too many great animated music videos lately for SLYTs, so here's a Multi-Link Mostly-Vimeo...
"Fantasy", Song by DyE, Video by Jeremie Perin
NSFW as it goes from naughty to nightmare in record time.

"Have You Seen My Sister Evelyn", Song by Evelyn Evelyn, Video Produced by Amanda Palmer & Jason Webley, Directed by Hoku Uchiyama with Lead Animator Adam Bolt (whew)
A whole new way to look at drawing on foggy windows.

"The Murf", Song by Rendezvous, Video by Scott Benson
A brief history (and future history?) of Pretty Much Everything.

But wait! There's more!

"Idiologie", Song by Siriusmo, Video by Dent de Cuir
A little Terry Gilliam, a little Cyriak, and a lot crazy.

"Pirate's Life". Song by We Cut Corners, Video by Kijek / Adamski
Impressive hand-drawn water effect perfect for a genteel pirate.

"Soundtracks and Comebacks", Song by Goldfish, Video by Mike Scott
Great beat, cute fish, same band as this previously MetaFiltered video.

"Apache", Song by Danger Beach, Video Directed by Ned Wenlock with character animation by Rodney Selby
Geometric constant motion with some of the coolest guitarists ever animated.

"Amateur Rocketry", Song by Dan Wholey, Video by "AWESOME + modest"
Hand-drawn psychedelia, NSFW for toon boobs & gore (and similar to A+m's previous "Estate Sale Sign" by The Mountain Goats)

"Le soleil chante (The sun sings)", Song by ignatus, Video by Delphine Burrus
Matching folksy Frenchness to surreal and sometimes suggestive stop-motion.

"Du monde tout autour", Song by Louise Attaque, Video by ChezEddy
Yes, more vocals in French, with sketchy men and one cute but powerful girl on the march.

I have made every effort to ensure I'm not duplicating anything that has been posted before, but some of these videos are hosted in more than one place. If anything here is a Double, would it be too much trouble for the Mods to remove only the offending link? Of course it would.

After watching those first two, I just want to say thanks (a) for the forewarning on the DyE one (GOOD GOD) and (b) for the heads-up about some pretty great music.

Well, that's the last gang to break in the pool at Lovecraft High.

I just saw the link above the fold in one of my friend's facebook feed and figured, this is great art but could never be a good MeFi post. Great job!

Oh oh oh! I have two good ones:

Gotye's Heart's a Mess for long legged sea people.

Kwoon's I Lived on the Moon for epic moon battles and heartwrench.

Wow. That didn't work...

(Looks up at his framed Bachelor's of Medieval Metaphysics from Miskatonic)

Great school, but never look too closely at the punchbowl during parties.

Wow. That didn't work...

The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of Metafilter to correlate all of its comments.

I need some more of that first one. Just wow.

If you can't get enough of this stuff, animvids (peerlessly curated by anipages' Bejamin Ettinger) is the place for you.

Anybody have a tip on how to get vimeo to work with firefox, flashblock, and noscript? Even after enabling scripts and allowing the flash it just sits there taunting me and doing nothing until i fire up a less secured browser.

That, to provide some context, would refer to the blank post about mine.

Well, you had me up to FlashBlock. I just rely on NoScript to handle that stuff. Other than that, it worked fine for me, on Linux even.

Thanks for the additional links, no mind, Jilder and Quassimike.

I see that The Real Tuesday Weld and Aleksey Budovskiy collaborated on some other pieces, including "Bathtime in Clerkenwell", "Last Time in Clerkenwell" and "Terminally Ambivalent Over You". I recall I was first introduced to TRTW by the "Bathtime" video shown on the late-lamented Tech TV's computer animation showcase, "Eye Drops". (Now, would somebody collect all THOSE clips? Please?)

progosk, I discovered animvids while preparing this post, after I'd already gotten most of the vids I used. I should've given shoutouts to Cartoon Brew, the Drawn blog, and IndieAnimator's Animation of the Day. But if everybody knew about these cool sources, there would've been no need for this post.

If you didn't see this when I first posted it, I had originally put it up with the first three videos before the "more inside" break, with blank lines between (An early draft had ALL the videos on the front page I but KNEW that'd cause a kerfuffle). Even then, it apparently took up too much Front Page space, but when it got 'adjusted', I worried that some people would click the first link and never want to see the "more inside". So thanks to all of you who dared!
