Behind these castle walls is an incredible amount of self-control.

Usually, this kind of dance leaves me cold, but that was amazing.

Wow. If I could bust just one of those moves. Yeah, wow.

That's the worst version of 'the sprinkler' I've ever seen. Graeme Swann after the win at Melbourne was miles better.

not a double exactly, but the same dancer in a SLYT one month ago.

He is amazing though...

Yeah, that was very cool.

Not quite. The previous post was a dancer named Marquese "Nonstop" Scott, this post is Julius "iGlide" Chisolm . I believe they are part of the same group called Remote Kontrol. You can see them dancing together in other Youtube clips.

There was a lot of speculation in the earlier thread that the dancing might have somehow been digitally faked (something about how his shirt moved).

For what it's worth, here's the guy doing it live on Ellen.

It's not digitally faked. I can do it too. Nowhere near as well as these guys. But it's not fake.

Is this improvised, or previously choreographed (moves worked out in advance)?

Behind these castle walls, the inhabitants need to be punished for lack of self-control.

I've never believed in self control, for who is the self that is being controlled, and who is the self that is controlling?

I bet those moves help him pick up chicks.

I've always loved David from Santa Ana

^ (hint: he's not the first dancer)

The most amazing part of that video for me begins at about 3:20, where iGlide crosses his arms beneath each other and then continues to dance. Removing your ability to balance yourself with your arms in a dance like that is ridiculously hard.

It's fake - I can tell from the pixels

Here's a different dancer and a dubstep mix of Pumped up Kicks.

If someone did a Max Headroom remake now, he'd cast this guy as the title character.

I'm pretty sure I saw his shirt move backwards.

I've been watching it over and over trying to figure just what, exactly, makes those moves look so weird, and I think its the weight placement. Very frequently they place all of their weight on the foot at an odd angle or on tip toe, and then move the other one freely, and it's just not what your brain is expecting.

Regardless of what's being done though, that was absolutely amazing. I always get shivers when I see someone who has so much skill.

You know that old question of what would happen if you took cell phones or TVs or something back to like ancient greece? Screw all that. I want to take him back and see how they'd respond.
They'd probably call him a god.

Am I the only person who is beginning to think of this type of dancing as being in the same category as mimes?
posted by Peach at 10:39 AM on October 29, 2011

Very impressive, thanks for the post! only thing that would have made it better would be if at the very end he would have hopped on a tiny bicycle and waved at me. :)

Peach, I think of Toni Basil and Fred "Rerun" Berry and the rest of The Lockers on Soul Train more than mimes. I wonder what she thinks when she sees these young guns.

I wasn't shocked that this was on YouTube, but I'm shocked that I remember seeing that clip; I couldn't've been more than 5 when this aired.
