Fishing under ice (single link Vimeo post)
Very nice - likewise took me a minute to work out what was happening.

Now that I've seen this done I'm surprised I'd never seen this done before.

By the way, is there any way to adjust the quality on Vimeo down even further from my present "not HD" setting? I spend most of my time on a computer that can't play video like this smoothly.

Neat indeed. Wonder if they will be able to recover their wheelbarrow come summertime ...

Well, they could just swim down and hook a line onto it (and that fake balloon) right now.
Under-ice hockey is getting pretty popular.

There was a science fiction story about a civilization that lived like this on the underside of ice (on Europa maybe?). Very "allegory of the cave" like, anyone remember it?

Hit pause and let it buffer/load completely, and then it will usually play smoother.
You can also manually download most flash videos with a FireFox plugin called DownloadHelper, and then you can play those files in VLC. Also, you can usually just drag/drop these files into a blank browser window for less cluttered and smoother playback on older machines so the FLV (flash video) or mp4 file plays in your native Flash client and browser - instead of inside Vimeo's or YouTube's custom flash players/wrappers.
Rendering video smoothly in browsers is a pain in the ass.

Not in general a big Chrome fan, but Vimeo has an html5 player that is Chrome-only and is much smoother I think.
