Thank you for the laughs on a cloudy Sunday morning, I didn't expect a whole herd of them.

I watched several adolescent gorillas chase a squirrel in the outdoor area at the National Zoo in DC a couple of years ago. It got to the top of a telephone-like pole, with two gorillas coming up on either side, and I thought we were all about to get a lesson in natural selection, but it somehow slipped through their fingers (well, I guess we did get a lesson in natural selection). Fantastic to see those animals jumping and swinging and running in a real wild way--these guys weren't "playing," no sir.

That's a huge butterfly. I would chase it, too. (What would have been awesome if a bunch of other animals, including humans, gradually joined in. In my head, that's what happened.)

Oh man, in the name of science, someone get me some otters and a cat toy laser light....

Original sound? Bonus points for referencing Potter Puppet Pals.

On the one hand, it's great that every Tom, Dick, and Harry have some form of recording device on them so scenes like this can be captured and shared. On the other hand, this video gave me motion sickness. Super cute otters, though!

With a soundtrack of shrieking violins, this is terrifying audiences over at the Butterfly Multiplex.

Why should cats have all the fun?

I am pretty sure that otters are composed of fun, water, Slinkies, and fish.

If anyone could be said to have all the fun? It's the otters.

I've seen otters chase* pelicans. It doesn't end well for the pelicans.

This makes me wish kittens and otters would hang out together and be BFFs 4ever. Anyone have a video featuring both kittens and otters?

Fried comedy gold. Those semi-aquatic idiots.

Perhaps this could be of assistance.

Best part was the postie popping round to tesco for some milk and feeding the otter with a biro. British stuff just sounds slightly more interesting than their American counterparts. I know it is probably like 7-11 but I can't help but imagine that the postie, in a starched uniform complete with pith helmet drives his official postal delivery vehicle, a behemoth hand built in 1917 and lovingly maintained by a squadron of people dedicated to the maintenance of England's fleet of official vehicles, drives over to some converted ducal estate and consults with a a cadre of liveried footmen with consultation with various caretakers, game keepers, gaffers and onlookers. Finally someone produces some milk and a pen and declares "sometimes one must simply make do, wot old chap?"

Otters are the sleeper street racers of the animal kingdom - all cute and awshucks on the outside, but stone cold killers on the inside.

(There are river otters down the street in my neighborhood. They are aaaaaaaawesome to watch.)

Very nice! My dog likes to chase butterflies, too. Well, being the philosopher that he is, the actually chases their shadows on the ground in homage to Plato's allegory of the cave.

I'm pretty sure the butterfly was oblivious to the fact that it was inches away from death. A true butterfly.

You know you've been playing too much Skyrim when you're following this and waiting for the moment when the hover text appears, "Catch Orange Butterfly".

Otters are super cuter than babies. Except people's own babies, which are obviously the cutest things ever. But other people's babies? Otters, by a walk.

stone cold killers on the inside

I'd love an otter baby to raise & play with. I wonder how my cats would react?
