Brave New World. (SLYT) An adaptation of a really excellent book. Bud Cort makes everything good.

The first time I saw this I was about 14. Loved it. Kept seeing it at weird times over the years. It's probably been about 12 years since I saw it last. Thanks, bro!

I remember wanting to see this so much when it was shown on the bbc originally but it was way past my bed time. I am having to be tough with myself to not stop and watch it right now.

I remember this as being pretty terrible at the time it was broadcast, haven't seen it since. The more recent TV version with Leonard Nimoy was not really any good either.

There's some terrible acting, but Bud Cort and some others are good. The story stays intact, which is good too.

huh. I seem to remember this being 6 hours, not 3 hours. Probably my faulty memory, not there being another version. We watched it 25+ years ago in the SF As Lit class I took in high school. It was strange then, but I remember being pleased with how well it preserved the feel and plot of the book, and managed to convey a lot of the information which was largely expository in the book through storytelling.

Thanks for posting this. I'm rewatching right now.

Back in the early 90's, I worked in a print and copy shop in Westport, Connecticut, and Kier Dullea used to come in all the time. It was all we could do not to say "I'm sorry, Dave. We can't do that" for anything he asked for. Looking back, I imagine he gets that a lot.

Also, while watching, I realize that "Director Of Orgy-Porgy Services And Disco Worship" needs to be The Whelk's new title.

I didn't realize there was another adaptation of Brave New World. The last time I saw a film for this book it was many years ago, and Leonard Nimoy was Mustapha Mond and Peter Gallagher was Bernard Marx. The whole film was horrid (esepcially after you have read the book) because a lot of the key elements of the book were either removed or glossed over. I've saved this adaptation to my favorites and will definitely watch it the next few days. Thanks for the find!

Maybe good ole free western culture just isn't up to a genuinely good adaptation of Brave New World. It would just cut too close. 1984 we can take because it's more about THEM and let's make sure we don't become like THEM. Brave New World on the other hand is about US. It scared the hell out of me when I read it.

What kind of diet/exercise/cosmetic surgery/voodoo regime are Kier Dullea and Bud Cort on? They look younger than they did in their most famous roles a decade or so earlier.
