Fox News scroller - National Mental Health Assistance: 800-FOR-TRUTH - connects to Church of Scientology. If people called crying and upset they were told they could visit a Scientology center.

This story's almost a week old. Is there any evidence that this continues?

They also had people running around at post-attack gatherings with colorful t-shirts saying "Volunteer Counselor" or some such.

It's perfectly legal, and arguably on a par with any religious representatives doing essentially the same thing, but ironic because they hate the mental health industry, and funny because they trolled FOX, who undoubtedly recoiled at the thought of referring anyone to counselors outside the Judaeo-Christian tradition....

Yeah, this is old, but when I found out about it, I was unable to post a link (being a newbie) so I posted this in some discussion somewhere. Even if it IS old, I'm glad it's here. The news media has been ignoring the fact that many theistic organizations (and our President) have been using this tragedy as a way to forward their own agendas. The more people are aware of it, the better.

Yes, agreed. Here's a good resource if you want to find out more about why Scientology sucks.

It only sucks if you wind up like Lisa McPhearson. That's why I quit the Scientology thing earlier this year.

Yeah, I'd say winding up dead at the hands of your so-called religion's handlers "sucks" but it's kind of hard to complain from six feet under, don't you think? It took the Lisa McPhearson debacle to make you realize how much $cientology sucks?
