I've had that song in my head since I wrote the date this morning. Glad to see I am not the only one to make the connection (although in some places 2/1/12 would have been a month ago).

A day without Geddy is a day without sunshine.

Ron Paul could really turn things around if he made this his campaign theme album.

The WHOLE album? When I was in college, we never turned the disc over to hear the other side. Is it any good?

You know, I completely forgot it had a b side.

Earliest human memory: my older brother putting giant Panasonic cans on my ears and playing me the Overture. Mind was blown. As a result, my musical tastes were totally out of synch with every other kids for years. But this is titanic record, and worth it.

Also, B side starts with a total drug anthem. SHOCKED.

I loved side two! Passage to Bangkok are you kidding me?

First of all, I am older than dirt. So I remember in high school talking to some Canadian kids (we lived just below the border) and them saying "we've got our own Zeppelin now, eh". An article in Cream magazine seemed to confirm that indeed, there was a band that indeed had a high-pitched singer leading a power trio that verged on Who/Zep thunder. And their new album had a side that was a "science-fiction" epic. That pretty much sold me and I got it immediately.

Cue a few months into the summer. B.O.C. was treading the backwaters to promote this album called Agents of Fortune and guess who was warming up for them (no, not the Guess Who)? So there we were, in a small arena in Minot ND. Geddy steps up to the mike and said, "this is side one from our new album, this is 2112." And we screamed like banshees. And that video in this thread is from that tour. I had forgotten how much they moved onstage back then (Alex has gotten a little less supple in recent tours). And as far as me and my friends were concerned, they blew B.O.C. away.

YES! Also, if anyone is interested, VH1's the story of Metal documentray will focus on prog rock influences on metal with particular emphasis on RUSH. \m/

The Rush documentary is excellent, even if you are a casual Rush fan like me. Among other things, there's home movie footage of Alex Lifeson arguing with his parents how he doesn't want to go to college HE ONLY CARES ABOUT GUITAR.

Also, Gene Simmons being puzzled about how they'd just go back to their hotel room to read books instead of partaking of groupies.
