Kickstarter Taking Off

The webcomic The Order of the Stick (previously) launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for a print run of old out of print books. It blew through all expectations, raising over half a million dollars (over 10x it's original goal) and reached #5 in on the all time funding list. Shortly after OOTS reached #5, a campaign for a new adventure game from revered video game studio Double Fine bumped it down to #6, by raising one million dollars in 24 hours.. Only 4 hours before, Elevation Dock became the first million dollar kickstarter. This and other great things documented in a kickstarter blog post.

This post was deleted for the following reason: These are neat things but we'd really prefer not to have active Kickstarter campaigns linked on the front page. Feel free to have a go tomorrow minus those links. -- restless_nomad

Oops. Forgot the link to the OOTS drive. Check out the updates page.

FPPs for active kickstarters are a no-no, I'm afraid. See here.

Yesterday Tim O'Reilly posted to twitter: Seems to me that Kickstarter is the most important tech company since Facebook. Maybe more important in the long run.

Man, do I wish that Kickstarter allowed projects that can be started outside the U.S.A.

FPPs for a Kickstarter asking for funding are a no-no. This seems more like a post about Kickstarter. With its efficacy seeming to skyrocket in, literally, the last few days, it seems pretty interesting.
