"Inception Park" (SLVimeo) where roller coasters and other amusement park rides, without their tracks or frames, move excited riders around downtown Buenos Aires.

Wouldn't an actual Inception park send a long talky part explaining how mind-bending and physics altering the park is and then dump you onto an unrelated six flags with no one you know?

Neato... though, the shadows are a little too dense.

There are two voices in my head. One says "Ah, okay, so it's just some well-executed digital compositing stuff."

The other one says "WHEEEEEEEE!"

The other one says "wow, haven't I become used to such an incredible high standard of visual effects"

The shadows looked pretty good to me on initial viewing. After reading your comment, I went back and watched them more carefully, and while they don't seem too dark or anything, they don't interact properly with the existing shadows. Example Which is understandable, because that would be really hard to do.

Was it just me, or was that music really not in keeping with what was happening?

My impression was that the shadows for the rides were darker than the other shadows in the scene, is all. Still, it's a clever idea and otherwise well executed.

Yeah, I don't get that music choice at all. Still, though -- fun tour of a beautiful city!

The song, incidentally, is Langhorne Slim - Worries.

Great effects, but I realized I'm kind of tired of the fake hand-held style with jerky zooms and slow-poke focusing. Everything else about the video is nicely edited, which makes the hand-held style just so jarring.

If you want to make it look like amateur video of a bizarre amusement park, make it look amateur through and through. Bad camera work and bad editing.

I've never done this before, I promise never to do it again, I believe it's in the Mefi constitution that every gets to do it once; That was totally shopped, I could tell by the pixels.

I thought it was charming.

I felt like those were the same foley bits for the people screaming as used in Rollercoaster Tycoon.

Lyrics I remember:
"She says, 'It's all in your head, all in your head.'"

I watched this with James Blake playing in the background and the sound off. It gave it a totally, totally different feeling. It also synced up eerily well.

So I thought I'd share.

Turn the sound off on Vimeo, and then make it full screen. The youtube audio should play in the background.
(If one of them isn't loading, try refreshing. Sometimes one or both of them wouldn't come through.)

I admit it: when the teacup spun out onto the balcony of the red brick building, I LOL'ed.

This. I saw the jerky handheld bit and the beginning and my first thought was "Man, they could have used some vibration control in that video camera"
