The Whole Wide World

AirPano's speciality is stunning panoramic photographs taken in flight: this plunging interactive piece above Angel Falls, the world's highest waterfall, being a wonderful example. Other pieces include the Maldives, the Great Pyramids of Giza, and Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany. A list of all the works in the catalog, and as locations on a world map. All of the linked panoramas require Flash (amd most have music, which can be muted), but the site also supports lower resolution versions for mobile devices. posted by Bora Horza Gobuchul (13 comments total) 21 users marked this as a favorite

Beautiful. Wish there were more in Africa, though. (Timbuktu is begging for this sort of thing.)

Looks like we were too late to save the Maldives from that whole global warming thing.

The Angels Falls image, taken in mid-air, is unintentionally fun if you set it spinning really fast and pretend you are royally and epically screwed. Having "The Lonely Shepherd" playing in the background only widens my michevious grin.

My goodness. Needs to be IMAX'd.

I strongly recommend reading the descriptions despite their rather awkward English. Very interesting if you wonder how the hell they shot the Neuschwanstein in the fog.

Very nice, except that I now have vertigo from the Angel Falls 360 and can't stop clinging to my monitor.

This are great, and also the first time I've caught myself thinking "I wish I could view this in 3D, with glasses".

Where does all that water go - the creek leading away from the falls is practically dry.

These are fantastic! Thank you very much for sharing. I'm hope (and suspect) that the lack of comments is because people went straight to the links and got lost in it all (as I've done repeatedly). :)
