Exploring Cardiff's Roath Lock studios, home of Doctor Who, Casualty, Upstairs Downstairs and the Welsh language Pobol y Cwm. Oh yeah, and there's a trailer for Doctor Who series 7, in which Farscape fans will catch a glimpse of Ben Browder.

the Welsh language Pobol y Cwm

"Hmm. That sounds interesting. I don't know anything about Welsh other than there's that town with the really long name. Stupid BBC player won't let me watch it. OK, youtube?"

Great, now I will be spending the rest of the afternoon listening to this almost-but-not-completely unintelligible language.

As anyone who has read Colin Wilson's The Return of the Lloigor will know it was invented by the incorporeal beings of ancient Lemuria to drain the life out of humanity.

It's John Crichton teaming up the Doctor in what looks like Nipton.

they've been reading my dream journal again.

Wow that was a fun trailer. Also, this must be why Gallifrey Base is down.

John Crichton on Doctor Who? Frell yes.

Though, why am I all of a sudden getting flashbacks of the last time Ben Browder was on a sci-fi show. With Aeryn Sun, no less. And it was basically a disaster. Not that SG-1 was ever as good of a show as nuWho can sometimes be.

Claudia Black would fit right in.

Makes sense in a way, since Farscape was itself a kind of a reworking of /inspired by Terry Nation's other, smarter show, Blake's 7*, with a dash of Buck Rogers for fish-out-of-water backstory plus some Muppets thrown in.

*Assorted prisoners on a prison ship revolt, take over sentient ship, have to stick together to survive and run from and confront/destroy an evil galactic federation.

It's not an extended allegory for the miners strike though.

Now while I'm feeling more "meh" towards the series 7 trailer than I'd like to feel, I will go ahead and beat Shepherd to the punch with his opinion of it: "At 1:12 in, no River Song. This is a good thing."

YES IT IS

Heh. I really like her, but think it would seem odd bringing her out again so soon after she'd been the focus of an entire season.

Of course, I say that every so often about Daleks.

I'm going to go ahead and start the campaign right now for Claudia Black as the 12th Doctor and Ben Browder as her companion.

Bumper onanistic Winter promised for Dr Who fans

I am wondering if some folk are frantically searching YouTube for Emerdale clips now.

Sherlock is partly filmed there too, isn't it?

Claudia Black would fit right in.

In her Farscape interviews, sometimes she mentioned that running through the Farscape set was like running through the Tardis - the same walls repeated over and over.

Every now and then an English word will pop up... best thing ever when I was a kid (and it was occasionally shown on national BBC) was 'Eiffel Tower!' suddenly appearing in a conversation between two men in a pub... with no other French references heard. I always wondered what that conversation was about.

This would be the greatest thing ever. Ever.

One cool thing about that Western episode/epsiodes - they shot it in Almeria, Spain, in the authentic Spaghetti West!

Bing seems to show the studios here. It's only visible in Aerial; in Bird's Eye, it isn't there yet.

Series 6 destroyed a lot of my enthusiasm for the show, which surprises me greatly.

The companion's sweater makes me think she might be from the 70s, which is a great idea.

Most interesting thing I have heard about Farscape EVAR.

S6 had its flaws and I grumbled some, but like the Whovian I am, I was all over the trailer, particularly after spending a couple of hours at the Alamo on Sunday watching The Three Doctors with a couple hundred of my closest Docnard friends.
