The Ethnic Aisle

The Ethnic Aisle discusses race and multiculturalism in Toronto. Their current "issue" is about Hair.

Their previous issue invited White writers to write about being White. Edgy! They've also discussed Christmas and interracial dating. There's lot of interesting stuff to read.

I learned long ago that you can, for the most part, talk to people frankly about race in a small setting, so long as it's not:

1) A public setting; and

2) You avoid the topics of hair, nails, and asses.

Such a clever name, The Ethnic Aisle.

I really liked a lot of those articles.

I do want to issue a plea to my fellow white people, though, to declare a moratorium of at least 100 years on articles, books, poems, dance pieces, art installations, pies, what have you that express your Deep Feelings about how your {$insert racial/ethnic identity here} nanny/housekeeper/yard man/chauffeur/school janitor taught you the true meaning of diversity. Please, I'm begging you, fellow white folks.
