This is brilliant.

Really great, and reminds me of Sarah Haskins' brilliant and lamented Target Women series.

I couldn't get this to work in Firefox or Chrome. :( That's too bad, I was excited to mashup something pink with something EXTREME.

What makes this work so well is that all the ads have very similar timing. I guess there's a finely-honed formula for cramming enough YOU WANT THIS TOY into a frantic 15-second spot.

Were you doing it right? You gotta drag the pictures into the little rectangles at the top.

Malice: It wasn't clear to me at first, but you have to drag the commercials to the top and then click mashup. After thinking it was broken, and then figuring it out, I then noticed there's instructions at the bottom. So not exactly a triumph of user interface design.

Yeah, I had no trouble with it either Malice. ...in wonderland!

It's like they made the Barbie Liberation Organization into a website!

Yep. In Chrome I got the barbie one to play without the audio over from the boy's section, even when dragging both and hitting mashup.

But, I don't want to derail, sorry folks.

Barbie island princess audio over playmobil pirate adventure video actually works pretty well.

G.I. Joe Pit Battlestation audio, Polly Pocket Jumbo Jet video: flawless victory.

Yeah, that was the main takeaway for me. Almost creepy how the child reaction shot seems to happen at the exact same time in every ad. I'd love to see Mattel's style guide.

Wow, painkiller, thank you for linking those, that's some seriously cool culture jamming and also a reminder that news people are the go to place for your daily dose of "man....hair back then."

seems a little tortured to me. I might like it better if it had some vintage toy commercials from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

Maybe it's just a guy thing, but I find the boy-soundtrack laid on the girl-images far more anarchic and hilarious than the reverse.

"Change the color, change the style" to visuals of many kinds of battleships. The timing does usually work brilliantly on these. Fab project.

I love this. Use the GIJoe (boys' top right) audio with the baby ponies (girls' bottom left) video for PONYBABIES READY FOR BATTLE.

Also thanks for those Barbie Liberation Organization videos, the painkiller!

This. Really really this.

Clonetrooper audio + hair styling Barbie works well too.

I keep coming in here to say "hey -- try [this combination] - it's perfect!" But that has happened with more combinations than not, so, as they say in kids' commercials -- collect them all!

This is well designed, makes a point (actually a lot of points) without preaching at all, and is really fun too.

Best of the web indeed.

I thought the LEGO edition was a bit more effective, and yeah the boy-audio + girl-video is usually more effective.

What browser is everyone using for this? I've tried the latest Chrome, Firefox and IE to no avail.
