I never thought of Shallow Gravy as being exactly... guitar virtuosos.

My brain went straight to Rusty, Hank and Dean.
The album cover practically SCREAMS Venture Brothers aesthetic.

Yeah, I was really hoping to get guitar lessons from Dr. Venture, maybe some enthusiastic bass lessons from Dean, a really loud and vague drum lesson from Hank, a clarinet lesson from Sergeant Hatred, a harmonica lesson from Brock, and perhaps a lesson in the harmonic vibrations of the universe from Dr. Orpheus.

I have no idea what most of the comments above mean. But The Ventures are infinitely cool forever, and if there's some other Ventures y'all are talking about, they ain't SHIT compared to THE Ventures.
The Ventures, previously*.

Yeah, WTF is everybody talking about? There's a different Ventures? Who would name themselves that?
PS, anybody want to join my new band? I'm going to call it "The Who." I think it is pretty clever.

The Venture Brothers is a cartoon show on Adult Swim, and the weird thing people are referencing about that you don't understand.

For 15+ years "Play Guitar with the Ventures" was one of my go-to records to mixtape/CD drop-ins. Then one sad day I rolled my desk chair over the record. Thanks for this. It will be nice to hear that cheesy announcer once again ("And now we'll tune YOUR guitar to OUR guitar. First string...").

It looks exactly like a Ventures album cover.
I didn't learn 'em off this record, but we will be playing "Walk, Don't Run", "Hawaii Five-0", and "Pipeline" this weekend.
Also been known to play Penetration, Tequilla, Wipeout, Memphis Tenn.,Magnificent Seven, The Lonely Bull, Batman, Green Onions. . .

Don't knock the Venture Bros. guys, it's an honest mistake and lots of people dearly love it.
It's a show that started off as kind of a real world take on Jonny Quest, but has evolved into a takedown/celebration of comics and pulp sci-fi in general. It's an incredibly smart show.
Mind you, the Ventures that are the subject of this post seem like they're interesting too.

"Raunchy," of course, is the song that won a thirteen-year-old George Harrison a tryout with The Quarrymen.

This post, combined with the Shaggs lessons from a couple days ago shall make me like unto a GARAGE ROCK GOD. Although I think I also have to get bitten by a radioactive whammy bar or something.
