it's so odd to see a painting I have sat across from all year turn up on the blue.

Love them! Girl with Troll Head was quite disconcerting, while my favorite might be the one right after, Sir Frederic Burke and His Leviathan.

There is a printing of the common "Call of Cthulhu" collection of Lovecraft stories in bookstores right now with Victorian monster illustrations done in a very similar style on the front cover and inside flaps, similar enough that I'm wondering if they're done by the same guy. They are wonderfully charming, even if they're not strictly in keeping with Lovecraft's vision. (The interior flap illustrations are labeled "North Atlantic Dagon Worshiper" and "South Pacific Dagon Worshiper.")
Here it is on Amazon. See what I mean?

Troll head sorta reminds me of Clancy Brown.
Yeti and Woozel are my favorites.

Travis Louie is an amazing artist and one of the most deadicated men I know. He did the cover art for Kim Boekbinder's Impossible Girl album.

Yes, I thought they looked familiar! Thanks reverend cuttle. That wouldn't happen to be of the Esoteric Order of Dagon, would it?

I can't believe no one's linked to attached blog, it offers wonderful backstories for the paintings:
Chesterton
The Smoking Krampus
During the off season he works as a part-time henchman and fry cook.
During the busy season, he likes to crash corporate holiday parties; consume all food and drink and snatch his victims away in a large sack that he drags through the bumpiest streets he can find. Once back at his lair, he dangles them over an open fire while thumping them with a rolled up newspaper or phone book, shouting 'Bad, Bad!!'
