I THRU SUM MONEY ON DA GROUND AND GREW CASH TOMATOES

A wonderful, highly NSFW song about being Charls Barkly. From the incoherent, offensive, and brilliant gmcfosho, whose works include the classic Rifle Burs, Snacks, and IMDABES (previously), which is probably the best reason for the Internet's existing.

It would be fascinating if there were any way to determine how many dogs are named Charles Barkly in any given year, and how that number fluctuates in relationship to Charles Barkley's prominence at the time.

I would wager that the prominence of the name of the dog would be inverse to the proliferation of the person in the news. Culture of the sub-culture being what it is and all.

Thank you. Now I am ready to go to work. That was much more effective than coffee.

Maybe I'm paranoid, maybe I'm beanplating, maybe I'm becoming an old man at 28, but what I see is people who haven't grown up because America offers them no opportunity to contribute in any sort of meaningful, morally satisfying way. So they do drugs in their parents' houses and make shitty videos and it feels like a critique of the state of society. I am fairly sure all of these guys have genuine talent, but they're more likely to benefit from "troll-gaze", because their actual talents and skills are no longer worth anything in our economy.

No, you're pretty much right. This is horrible, and the songs that sound like it that get played on the radio and become popular and get fans for the people who make this horrible music are bad too. And the record companies that turn away actual rappers because they know they can profit off this mess, horriblex3.

There are a couple brilliant turns of phrase, though. Club hits like Bam-Bam, rhyming mashed potatoes with cash tomatoes, these are signs of life.

This is the most delusional thing I've ever read.

MCFOSHO is making videos of himself and his friends having fun. He's not selling anything, he's not on the radio, he's not looking for sponsorship. He's making videos of some songs he wrote that are silly. Some people like them, some people don't.

Reading into it any more than that is a mistake.

Seriously. These guys are creative, they're having fun, they obviously have a great understanding and appreciation of hip hop/nerd culture, and want to comment on it. Also, "IMDABES" is hilarious and an insane earworm.

This is horrible, and the songs that sound like it that get played on the radio and become popular and get fans for the people who make this horrible music are bad too. And the record companies that turn away actual rappers because they know they can profit off this mess, horriblex3.

You do realize this is parody, right? Oh wait, you don't. Bad form.

I loathe parody rap, or rap parody, or something. I hate it when people rap and are not genuine. Being funny is great, but lots of parody-ish rap is not funny, it's just parody. I don't like this stuff for mostly that reason.

But, am I missing something? Where is there anything supporting this reading:

America offers them no opportunity to contribute in any sort of meaningful, morally satisfying way. So they do drugs in their parents' houses and make shitty videos and it feels like a critique of the state of society.

I think that Jon_Evils version of Mad Libs just forgot to include the universally generalized linking statement of fact at the end, which should have included the phrase "otherwise these individuals would actually be out in the world [action verb] for real instead of just sitting around in that [place where people younger than you hang out] [different action verb]."

Without that integral piece he just looks like hes gone six steps off the five step pier.

Sorry, I've had my head stuck in economics and social theory all morning, and it's making me a crazy person.

It's also entirely possible that I'm now so out-of-touch with the hip kids that I no longer recognize the edgiest parodies for what they are.

i like how they mentioned darkwing duck(!) and crispy creme doughnuts(!) as those are things that i am familiar with but not in the context of rap music(!). theres no need to bring ODB back to life as these gents have surpassed him with there irrepressable insouciance

Of course I do. That was the point. This is horrible, because it has to be like what gets played on the radio and pushed by labels, which is also horrible. Making horrible music to prove a point about the rap game? Been going on for a while.

Well done. This is some sort of cultural thing for which I do not have a single referent. Now I know what it must feel like for most of the world, most of the time, when they see most of the stuff chucked out by the West.

I like these guys. They watch a bit too much Chappelle for their own good (yo MCFOSHO you know if you ffwd thru any part of Half Baked with Mary Jane in it, it's liek a gajillion times better?) but it's still pretty frickin hilarious how much dumb shit they can pack into simple little videos.
