Running for Congress? Better be a straight shooter. It's not enough for Joe Manchin to shoot up the cap and trade bill (previously), or for Ron Gould to shoot up the health care bill...for all we know, an actor made the shot. Fear not, let's change the angle a bit so it's over your sholder...how about Rob Wallace shooting up some Texas water?

Isn't this kind of a non-metaphor for the Texas policy on potable water?

Ron Gould? He looks like he should be playing the cop role in a disco vocal group.

To be fair Wallace is an Oklahoma gun nut.

East Manitoba Regional Junior Kabaddi Champion '94: Shooting is passe; we're now hurling acid in women's faces

I'm trying to come up with the most effective way to turn this back on the speaker. Perhaps: "Republican spokeman promotes Islamofacism at home"?

I guess brief hiatus on imagery and rhetoric involving shooting your political opposition that followed the Giffords assassination attempt has ended and now the R's have decided to urge their more violence prone members to try killing a Democrat again.

I suppose the only real question is whether or not the inevitable violence following this sort of stuff will happen before, or after, the elections.

Rob Wallace is a Democrat.

So I guess we can expect an increase in eliminationist rhetoric.

I know we're not supposed to go all Godwin, but, you know, when people start down a specific path ...

"Conservative Republican" - I was unaware there were any liberal republicans.

A kill list is for you weak lefties. If elected I promise to kill anyone I declare an enemy with my bare hands.

Rob Wallace is a Democrat.

Technically, so is Joe Manchin.

Ugh. These guys make all gun owners look like nuts.

I especially like the part about how we "can't afford" Obamacare. That's like saying "I'm an idiot; I know nothing about this issue."

At first, reading the post, I thought he was going to intravenously inject some public drinking water from somewhere in Texas.

My mind shuddered and I thought, "I hope he doesn't go to Odessa."

Well, he didn't shoot it up, but I bet if he shot a five gallon drum of Odessa water, it'd be a hell of a show. That stuff tastes combustible.

Except that was a democrat and hew as shooting TEXAS. Or at least... their water.

He completely missed an opportunity to say "I'll mess with Texas" in the ad.

Either you're shooting a dude in the face, and getting them to apologises for it, or you're little people.

I'd like to see a parody ad where one of these guys shoots the bill and then someone else puts it in a 3-ring binder. "Thanks, Congressman!"

Grow a beard, cop in a disco vocal group guy. Trust me.

Well, maybe it's to distinguish him from the vast majority of Republicans, who are nowhere near actually being 'Conservative'.

Kinda makes me glad that I'm north of the border for the election season this year. Just because you can handle a firearm does not make you fit for public office.

Well, I thought I felt very strongly about my position on Subject X, but hell, if you're willing to use a *gun* to make your point, then clearly you must feel much more strongly than I and therefore must hold the correct point of view.

I don't understand how advertising like this doesn't automatically make you a laughingstock in the US. I mean, in more progressive circles it probably will, but that there apparently exists a significant enough population of potential voters to whom stuff like this appeals for it to be seen as viable advertising tactic... Nope, don't get it. I expect I never will. I try not to read too much into stuff like this, try not to slip into the national stereotype thing, but it's hard.

It's a huge and diverse country. You've never been to West Virginia, Arizona's 4th District, or Oklahoma's 2nd District. This is how candidates establish their pro-gun credibility there. Congressional in America are local to a degree that I think does not and cannot exist in parliamentary systems.

On the opposite end, this sort of ad would get you laughed out of the race in, say, Chicago. There, if you aren't anti-gun enough, they'll run an ad with a mother blaming you for killing her son.
