Rendered from simple html and css, it is the very likeness of the thing itself

I thought it was "CSi Cupertino".

In FF, the reflection isn't correct.

Ironically enough, this was kind of a pain in the ass to view on the iPhone.

Like how you can't store a box in a box the same size.

I'm not seeing a phone, just some sort of code editor.

And in Safari, the reflection doesn't "reflect" the full image. It just kinda stops.

THIS BRINGING BACK UNPLEASANT MEMORIES OF CROSS-BROWSER COMPATIBILITY ISSUES AND TRYING TO FIX THEM

Nah, it's also impossible to scroll the viewport and see the whole thing on an iPad too.

This link works for me in Firefox although the reflection is offset to the right.
posted by octothorpe at 7:26 PM on June 19, 2012

Huh. That reflection isn't correct at all. Shouldn't the "home button" (or whatever you call the round thing) be at the top of the reflected image?

I spent a lot of my day today editing windows batch scripts. I was sort of feeling good about it, because I'm really really good at windows batch scripting, but I was also feeling kind of bad about it because batch files are a terrible way to actually get a computer to do what you want.

So I guess what I'm saying is this post resonates deeply with me.

I thought the CSS iPhone was sunk off of Florida back in 1864.

Ha I read it as the CSIphone and was thinking the same thing.

That's the worst emulator I've ever seen. The power button doesn't even work...

No wires. Fewer lines of code than a Nomad. Lame.

HAML is pretty awesome. Hypocritically enough of me, I also believe that SASS is overdoing it.

You know, these pure CSS art pieces are nice and all, but imagine how many table-based layouts they could have built in the same amount of time!

Hmmm...Pretty. But, the reflection image isn't aligned with the top iPhone image. It's offset low and to the right (FF12/Mac)

Wow, this markup language that provides shapes, colors, and positions can be used to create images!

I'm impressed at the level of detail.

Now, show me a illustration software that would let you create this using conventional computer illustration techniques and I'll be really impressed.

Bah! Humbug! HAML solves no problems that a good IDE or text editor doesn't solve and introduces another layer of dependency into your project. Dumb dumb dumb. Right up there with Coffee Script.

At least SASS makes CSS slightly less redundant to write - but the same argument applies.

The CSS iPhone renders perfectly in Safari. This is my surprised face.

You could, in fact, create this in Illustrator.

Sorry, I should have been more specific: Allows you to create a CSS-driven realization at this level of realism using conventional computer illustration techniques.

Of course that could be your point, but if I'd known we were working together I'd have given you a better setup....
