Rich: "How girly was that?"

Not as girly as the guy on the second video, mate.

I need to go on this ride so I can get proper girly.

I'm glad that we, as a society, have at least this outlet where it's acceptable to laugh at someone's total neurological terror response. Because if we didn't I'd feel pretty bad for laughing so hard at some of these.

By following related links, I got to a part of YT where beautiful women in scanty clothing react to being driven around in fast cars. Because of course.

This is exactly how my day went today at work over nothing. People flailing around calling "mommy". SCOTUS--it's a powerful thing.

The problem I always have in ride like these is what to do with my glasses. Leave them on and I'm sure to lose them; take em off and I don't see a thing.

Apart from that, it's always nice to let out your inner scaredy cat and scream your lungs out.

So if something goes wrong, you'll die, and if not, you'll just think you're going to die for thirty or forty seconds?

I was born without the part of the brain that makes people want to go on these rides.

So if you have no idea what is going on in these videos (like I did), aside from people screaming, it appears they're all riding one of these.

In my umpteen years of riding all manner of coasters and other assorted thrill rides, I've always used eyeglass cords to hold my glasses tight to my head. Haven't lost a pair yet.

You know, it's funny to watch Rich and Sue and imagine they are having mind-blowing orgasmic sex and not getting catapulted from a giant slingshot.

The post-terror conversation between Rich and Sue there is really quite sweet.

Alternatively, you could just watch this Slingshot video, in which the woman has an orgasm and tells the guy she's riding with that she prefers it to him.

Not to drag down the level of discourse, or anything.

This video is a tribute to their lives, as they were tragically taken from us a few months ago.

...when their septigenarian hearts exploded on a carnival slingshot ride.

I love the way the guy on the left turns into a frightened octopus in that last link.

They're all hilarious, but damn, I hope I am like Rich when I his age in the video. They seem like they were an amazing couple and I loved watching both of them have a blast on the ride.

Oop - sorry - not like Rich - like the older dude in the "people" link.

As someone afraid of heights with a wife who loves the roller coasters, I strongly endorse the girly screaming and pleading for your mother.

At the other end of the spectrum, let's enjoy Lily's first real roller coaster!

That was me on the parachute drop thing at Six Flags. I did it with my brother, my wife stayed on the ground. She had to help hold me up for a few minutes afterwards.

If you've never been on one of these things - for me, the worst part was when the cradle rocks back into launch position and the 'ropes' start tightening up.

Your lizard-brain is screaming "thisiswrongwrongwrongwrongwrongwrongwrongwrongWRONGWRONGWRONG" as the tension builds, and what is left of your rational mind is balancing humiliation/not enough time to escape safely anyway and you know you are about to die.

This type of ride seems to bring out the true nature of the person.
I think it should be required that Presidential candidates be launched like this,
video taped and put up for public perusal.

This is actually the best endorsement of sling shot rides that I've ever read. I never particularly wanted to go on one, but having read this, my brain is saying "MUST GO ON SLING SHOT RELEASE LIZARD BRAIN."

Be careful what you wish for Joey Michaels, once released, you can never quite cage the lizard brain up again.
