Comics Come Out

Cartoonist Justin Hall is about to release No Straight Lines: Four Decades of Queer Comics, a book celebrating and showcasing the work of queer cartoonists, including Trina Robbins, Alison Bechdel, and Joey Alison Sayers. A 36-page excerpt can be downloaded here (pdf, 3.6 mb).

No Straight Lines is broken into three sections:
Comix come out: Gay gag strips, underground comix, and lesbian literati
Comix to comics, punk zines, and art during the plague
A New Millenium: Trans creators, webcomics, and stepping out of the ghetto


You may also be interested in the material at No Straight Lines, a tumblr associated with a course on queer comics at the California College of the Arts. This includes interviews and links to queer comics.

Was about to be outraged with I didn't see Tim Barela and his excellent years-long running Leonard And Larry mentioned.

But then I did see it, and all was right with the world.
