That's a neat idea. Whether or not LaTeX ever takes over the world for typesetting (which, considering how long it's had to try, it almost certainly won't), its maths formatting is excellent and well-used in places like Wikipedia and MATLAB.
Markdown would be a good idea too, I agree.

Odd that there's not mathML support, despite the fact that MathJax supports it.

It'd be 500% more awesome if they added Markdown into the mix. (While LaTeX is great for equations, it's a nightmare for page layout)
