The edit from Travolta to Travolta?

Superlative.

Holy god that was better than I expected. Wish they could have gotten something a little cleaner for "my anaconda don't want none unless you got buns, hon," though.

I'd like to see this without the music or subtitles.

The Meg Ryan clip is where I fell over laughing - that was perfect.

It seems to me the question is does the bride got back?

Also the Office Space/Office Space/Office Space trifecta.

He also did Don't Stop Believing. The treatment works better with the quicker pace of rap.

I like having Butthead say 'Butt'. huh huh.

(Everyone else beat me to the best bits, so I'm picking up the dregs)

Sho Nuff from "The Last Dragon" was mine. Just direct-a your feets-a to Daddy Green's pizza.

As one who will sing Coulton's version when feeling drunk or silly enough, I approve of this.

The quick shot of Malcolm McDowell from Tank Girl was a nice touch.

Hmm. Maybe time to watch that again.

Dr. Demento used to play "Spliceway to Heaven", which was awesome, although much more jarring since it was cut with the original.

This easily qualifies as my favorite thing that I've seen today but I still got distracted halfway through because of my short attention span. I can't imagine the discipline it takes to make something like this.

Baby Got Back is 20 years old.

[Enter Leela and Bender. Fry turns the TV off.]
Leela: You haven't been to work in three days. What have you been doing?
Fry: I've been sitting right here. I picked up my life exactly where I left off a thousand years ago. Now, if you'll excuse me, it's eight o'clock. Time to get biz-ay!
[Fry turns the stereo on and Sir Mix-a-Lot's plays. Leela turns it off.]
Leela: You can't just sit here in the dark listening to classical music.

Challenge: some mefite who works for google, knock out a 20%er that assembles youtube collages like this on demand, a la xtranormal. Bonus round: let the user constrain the source-material set and resulting trajectory.

How does a person put such a thing together? Painstaking notes? Script databases and access to a film library?

Pretty neat.

I liked it.

But I must confess I'm bemused why any man would call his penis an anaconda and expect to get laid afterwards.

How does a person put such a thing together?

I have a feeling it's a combination of "writing all the lyrics out, then remembering where you've heard a certain word/phrase in a movie" along with script googling.

I used to play a game (with myself, admittedly) where I'd come up with a random word, and try to remember where it was used in a movie.

Spoon: Life of Brian: "We found this spoon, sir." or Kentucky Fried Movie: "In addition to your occupation as a spooooonnn..."

etc.

I would say that the mark of a truly great "mashup/supercut/whatever this kind of thing is called" would be going for the longest uninterrupted phrases possible, without resorting to movie characters directly quoting the song in question. After that, cadence, timing, and overall artistic impact would be considered.

related: the song in question reimagined as a G&S patter song

But when the song quotes a movie and then the movie is used in the mash-up?

I can't decide if they were cheating when they sampled Full Metal Jacket or if it was an homage.

I can't decide either, but it made me laugh.

I love stuff like this. I also like that most of the "butt"s were from animated movies; who else says "butt?" I would maybe prefer some cleaner crossfades, though. Yipes.
