I'd have voted for the grasshopper.

It's not a winner, but I keep looking at the swan photo in the highly commended section.

I love the grasshopper! Also, why is a gull fighting with a puffin?

Gannett Jacuzzi and Starlings Watching Starlings are band names waiting to happen. And yes, I would pay handsomely for a wall-sized print of the Starlings. Mesmerizing.

Basically, because gulls are assholes. The puffin may have had something tasty (a fish, its own offspring) that the gull wanted to eat.

I suspect the use of professional stunt gannets!

Gulls eat puffins.

After the gull finishes the puffin, all you get is a little inside-out puffin skin perfectly cleaned of any muscle with no tears in the skin. I can't do that with 10 fingers when I'm preparing a bird skin. The skins also make awesome, if morbid, puppets.
