Pepsi Blue, but worth it. (Explains all the gum chewing though.)

Yeah, it's a trident gum viral or something.

I love when something is so stupid and dumb but I still enjoy it. Oh wait, I should probably point out its an ad.

I was really hoping for 11 hours of the Mary Jane Girls.

For some reason, Rhett and Link always come off like overenthusiastic evangelical youth ministers to me. I just see their videos and think, "That sounds like church..."

Though I have enjoyed Mad Men for its depiction of a world that is sometimes barely comprehensible, I sometimes wonder what viewers in the sixties would have made of a (then science-fictional) show depicting the actual workings of a circa-2012 ad agency:

"For the new gum campaign, we are going to take a cheesy pop hit from thirty years ago and have a couple of guys no one has ever heard of before sing it poorly, and at the end we will plug the gum. Oh yeah, the full ad is eleven hours long."

Andy Warhol would get it, but nobody else would.

I lived through well more than 11 hours and 10 minutes of hearing this song everyfreakingplace I went when I was in high school. Having it continue to haunt me like the plague 30 years later was not something I expected to happen. Hell, it's not something I think Lionel Richie expected to happen to him either. Well, at least "Penny Lover" hasn't become a meme yet.

This always reminds me of the closing of the L A games . Lionel Richie left but the music went on and on those musicians earned their pay that night the whole stadium was rockin. Looked like a lot of babies would be visiting around Valenties 1985.

And La Monte Young.

"All Night Long" was the Top Billboard Song in the country on the week I was born. Lionel Ritchie was probably one of the first human voices I heard in addition to my parents.

It's actually very similar to what's depicted on Mad Men.

It's in the small print. It's always in the small print. Although technically it's an example of an entry into a competition to become an ad. Like the home made Doritos ones from the Superbowl.

"All Night Long", all night long.

Reminds me of a series of cover bands I once joked about starting: Better Than Better Than Ezra, Letter To Letters To Cleo, jimmy Eat Jimmy Eat World, and Everthing But Everythimg But The Girl who would cover songs by any band except Everything But The Girl.

"I always thought Millennials were different, were sick, were something other. Surely those people didn't exist in our own decent, upstanding community. Certainly I couldn't be one. And then one afternoon-- the afternoon that changed everything-- I heard "All Night Long" and wondered who was playing that Enrique Iglesias song..."

I just spent about an hour clicking through the long video. It's really fun seeing them setting up the shots, happening upon random people and then sort of directing them on the fly. And of course, earnestly singing the entire time, especially the brown-haired guy.

They blew the ending. We really did do that all night long dancing/partying thing, but we always ended up with a sunrise skinny dipping session.

... then there was the time that tour bus pulled up earlier than usual ...

Rhett's brother works for Campus Crusade for Christ, so you're not far off.
