Lessons learned from Ashley Smith: pending

New Brunswick native Ashley Smith (previously) was arrested in 2003 at the age of fourteen for throwing crabapples at a postal worker she believed was withholding her neighbour's disability cheques. On October 19, 2007 in the Grand Valley Institution for Women in Kitchener, Canada, Smith committed suicide while prison guards watched. On Monday, the CBC reported that three female inmates of Grand Valley have alleged that a male guard related to a senior manager at the prison supplied them with marijuana and cigarettes in exchange for sex.

This post was deleted for the following reason: If you want this post to be anything other than OH MY GOD FUCK THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE you need to phrase it differently. As it is a night-before-US-thanksgiving post about suicide and prison sexual abuse is basically not going to go well. -- jessamyn

4 years on a 90 day sentence. There is no justice or rehabilitation in this system and it's a shame.
