What the hell is wrong with editors? If I wanted to see raccoons getting mad rutty I'd hang out on the greenbelt behind the walmart.

Many years ago I had the good fortune to help setup a camera trap along a dry creek bed in a remote area of Santa Barbara county. Got the film developed (yes, film) and flipped through the 36 snaps it took over the course of several weeks. It went like this: Deer. Raccoon. Deer. Deer. Bunny. HOLY F'ING CRAP MOUNTAIN LION. Deer. Deer.

tldr; camera traps are so cool

Is spitting a common trait in sloth bears or did this one just do this for comic value?

Yeah. Mating porcupines. How do they do that? I don't think "very carefully" covers it.

This sent me searching for information on the oncilla and the horned guan.

The horned guan is apparently the sole member of its genus, with no living closely related species. It isn't even a true guan.

If I had one, I would call it Juan.

I think the animals have caught on, and are using these as photobooths.

These are pretty neat. Moon rat is going to be my new name for opossums.

I love these, Atreides - thanks - candids. That spitting sloth certainly looked less cute and friendly than all the swaddled baby sloths we've seen here on mefi.

I saw a common genet when I was on a night safari ride in South Africa - they are hard to spot, smallish and very nocturnal. That picture brought me right back, which was fun.

Way cool. Love those cats.
And yes, I'm thinking editors are likin' the animal porn.

It's weird to see tigers hanging out by what looks like a cottonwood tree. And the cubs by a pine tree. I never think of tigers as cold weather animals, because I don't live in China I guess.
