What DNA Really Looks Like - Alternatively from x-ray crystallography, which only expresses the refraction of light from the atoms of DNA, these images from an electron microscope show the first images of DNA. The first image is a DNA strand suspended over nanoscopic silicon pillars, while the second image shows a closer, more detailed image of the ridges created by the DNA "staircase."
