Back in junior high I wrote a little program that was a cartoon of my head in a little window and the eyes followed the cursor around the screen and occasionally it would say things and you could make the guy change costumes and stuff.

I was a weird kid.

What's the song/band etc?

BTW if you right click you can zoom in and when you hit left click it sticks the song in 'play' mode.

If you right click twice and say the words SATAN 666 times you see Satan's actual face appear.

good tip, Skygazer. I left-clicked and held, right clicked and zoomed-in, then left-click held, right-clicked and zoomed-out, so now I can see the whole thing without sacrificing my mouse finger to the ಠ_ಠ god.
posted by taz at 12:43 AM on December 23, 2012

There are several points in the running time after you start holding the mouse button down where it looks like it's done and there's nothing more to see, but keep holding. As near as I can tell, it's really done when the music stops.

Unfortunately, if you let your finger slack off the mouse button for even a split second it all starts over.

I'm interested in the symbols used as substitutes for swear words.

It's a scholarly thing, so I'm usually hunched over ancient text, reading by candlelight, trying to decipher the difference between *%@# or *%::&++! or *#@ǝ!!!.

My belief is that many of the substitute swear words began with root forms expressed by # and %. You can read my paper about this if those %$#^!-ing assholes would publish it.

When the music stopped, I was left feeling like a cat farmer.

There I was, under the watchful gaze of my ever-joyful god, herding my multicolored kittens into a nice orderly stack, careful as I always am to avoid touching the kittens directly (they're shy, you see). When, suddenly, everything went quiet. A dark shadow fell away in every direction, and had it not been for the continuing presence of my smiling god, I would have been frightened. For yes, the silence was terrifying. In the silence, in the shadows, I imagined monsters far more terrible than the hallucinatory journey I had taken to this land where I built my cat farm.

The smile of my god became predatory, lacking the warmth and safety it afforded me through the journey. It watched my every move as before, smiling all the while, and the kittens were no longer running with happiness following their every step. No, now, the kittens were running in fear and I was protecting them from this hell.

I have failed them, just as my god failed me.

I've interpreted Dante's Inferno in ASCII graphics.

This has never been done before. Here are the nine circles of Hell:

CIRCLE ONE: LIMBO

___???

CIRCLE TWO: LUST

69 ♋ !

CIRCLE THREE: GLUTTONY

-.

CIRCLE FOUR: GREED

$$ = ☺

CIRCLE FIVE: ANGER

CIRCLE SIX: HERESY

CIRCLE SEVEN: VIOLENCE

CIRCLE EIGHT: FRAUD there's a link there, believe me

CIRCLE NINE: TREACHERY

Explosions in the Sky

For a second I read that as: Explosions in the Skygazer.

Which sums up the last week or so (actually most of the month), pretty nicely and is going to be the name of my next music project.

Hopefully EITS won't mind too much..
