A London resident named Steven Whyley has just finished running the courses of all of London's Underground routes to raise money for brain cancer research. But because this is MetaFilter, it's interesting to note that he did so in honor of another, younger person who was also raising money for brain cancer -- until he succumbed to the same disease.

A London resident named Steven Whyley has just finished running the courses of all of London's Underground routes:
The London Underground is 150 years old today, as far as I am aware - and I could be wrong in this assertion - I am the only person to of run the entire network. Let me take you back through the story...
Whyley ran and ran and ran in order to raise money for a JustGiving charity project that he started in order to fund brain cancer research through the group Cancer Research UK. He was inspired by a boy named Harry Moseley, who also had been raising money for brain cancer research with his own crafting charity, HelpHarryHelpOthers. Harry started selling his beaded bracelets to raise money in honor of another partient, named Robert.

Sadly, Harry died on August 8, 2011, but Steve kept on running. And now he has finished this crazy, ambitious, foot-killng project, and has run the whole damn thing.

The Guardian's been doing a series on 150 years of the Underground.

I used to work with someone who held the world record for visiting every station on the network in the shortest time - a 'visit' had to involve both feet hitting the platform, and he did it in 19hrs.

parmanparman, can you explain that? Did you hear about his story elsewhere? (I am genuinely curious!)
