Ashes and Snow

The work of photographer Gregory Colbert, Ashes and Snow is a mixture of photograpy, a novel, and film. All of it can be seen in The Nomadic Museum, a traveling installation that showcases the artistic output of the show. The exhibit was last seen in Mexico City in 2008, with earlier appearances in Venice, New York, Santa Monica and Tokyo. The next venue and when is unknown, but keep an eye on the schedule page.

I saw this show in Santa Monica due to an old MeFi post. Amazing. If you get a chance to see it, go for the least busy time you can make it. Seeing a show like this with such a busy, distracted audience is a bit like meditating on the floor of the stock market.

The elephants in particular, and the Cape hunting dogs were pretty amazing.
