And not like in Batman Forever.

To celebrate the end of the NHL lockout, Toronto recently hosted a game of shinny: superheroes vs. supervillains, with Commissioner Gordon as referee.

Toronto Batman is a common sight downtown often locked in combat with Toronto Spiderman. They put aside their differences last week to front a team against Chicago Bane.

The lineups:

Heroes: Toronto Batman, Spider-Man, Rogue, Gambit, and Toronto Maple Leafs Iron Man.

Villains: Chicago Bane with Toronto's Joker, Mystique, Catwoman, and Deadpool.

Referee: Commissioner Gordon

The way Spider-Man takes his penalty was a great touch.

The man who broke the bat can't break a hockey stick over his knee.

I'm sad that nobody's dressed as a member of Alpha Flight.

Great move in pulling Batman's cape over his head. And I'm a sucker for anything with a "Car! ... Game on." break, which is the most Canadian thing ever.

They are using a puck on the street. I think this is fake.

I liked the "Car!" moment myself. I also like how Iron Man seems about as mobile and flexible as C-3PO, and almost never appears in the action of the game, presumably because the guy inside can barely see or move his limbs.

For extra villain points, the bad guys should have snuck in that glowing puck that FOX used to use years ago.

They are using a puck on the street.

It's a "street puck" (aka an "outdoor puck"). Totes legit.

Lack of skates: not as legit.

Ahem, SUPERHEROES AND SUPERVILLANS PLAYING STREET HOCKEY!
internally consistent legit.
(and I too was hoping for some ice-speed action but this turns out to be portion correct!)
