Evol's tiny world of apartments

Street artist Evol paints little apartment buildings on utility boxes, concrete blocks, park walls, and art installations (completed, but nothing lasts forever). More on his Flickr collection, or you can see highlights on Twisted Sifter.
Perfect.

I believe the appropriate response here is, "holy shit."

I love this, but man, I wouldn't want to live in any of those apartment buildings.

I like this. What's great about it is that most people probably wouldn't even notice it was graffiti, since it seems to fit so well into the environment. It's like painting cracks onto concrete or grass onto dirt or something.

I use to spend hours walking through the city looking at where the walls meet the sidewalk.
Looking at the way the dirt stains that area, creating a landscape. The side walk being a desert
and the stains on the walls are mountains and rest of the wall sky... I tried photographing them
...with little success. I was never really able to express this world. Evol goes right to my esthetic bone.
The landscape has always been a image for escape.
I love these.

I can't see in through the windows of any of these apartment buildings at dusk to speculate about the internal layout of the rooms. Clearly it's merely a facade of street art; just the shell of a good idea.

Now I want to live in a world where there are normal size humans but also 4 inch tall humans who live amongst us in these tiny apartment buildings. We normal sizers are patient and friendly with our teeny brethren, and they are even though we mostly live separate lives.

These are beautiful. I love street art like this. But oh man, so depressing. It's not that they're apartment buildings, it's that they're grey Soviet concrete block apartments. A lot of street art is about beautifying little bits of street furniture; these seem to uglify them instead, reflect back the worst of architecture. Not a complaint, just a reaction.
