"Dude, we can TOTALLY ski through this abandoned building in Alaska!" [SLV]

That was super cool. But I'm also thinking that compared to the effort put into shoveling all that snow to make the track, to set up the cameras and lighting that you don't see, the ride was sort of the easy part. Nice work all round.

I kind of love and am infuriated by the conceit of skate videos like this (I know it's not skating thanks) that pretend that what is happening is continuous and not many much smaller discreet actions edited to appear continuous. Though I kind of love how they have a cut where he's leaving the building and then returning with no explanation. Now where are the outtakes?

Finally - they've released Half-Life 3!!!

my fave part is about half way down where it says "Let's Fuck" on the wall as he goes by.

This is sort of cool, but the fact that they obviously packed that snow in, made ramps, etc, takes most of the cool out of it. You could ski through the Mall of America if you moved enough snow in.

And it would be awesome.

Is this a viral for the new Luc Besson remake of the Spy Who Loved Me?

Can't look a videos at work but the bunny slope at Ragged Mountain in New Hampshire has a small building to ski through. Probably not the same but a big adventure the first time through for some folks.

Maybe someday you'll be able to ski in Meadowlands Xanadu American Dream Meadowlands.

The actual skiing takes place between 0:55 and 1:55, FYI.

I have to admit, I wikied Mall of America to make sure it didn't already have a ski hill before I posted that comment.

As someone just starting to ski, I have a new life goal..... to walk that naturally in ski boots! Fun video!

I liked it when he scraped the excess wax off his skis on the side of that building.

Is this one of those questions that are best answered with "Because it's there?"

octothorpe: "Maybe someday you'll be able to ski in Meadowlands Xanadu American Dream Meadowlands."

Oh god. That thing.

To be fair, it's every bit as abandoned as the Buckner Building is. Ironically, it also tends to get damaged in snowstorms.

Double black diamond? I'll have you know that where I'm from (Detroit) that building would be a green circle. Barely.

It's not my style of skiing but it's definitely creative and well worth watching. Air time is always good.

Nice. My only criticism is the name - 5FloorsOfFury? To the sound of a gentle piano melody? How about calling it SundayAfternoonButTheSkifieldWasTooFarAway? Or ParkourOnIce? Or RelaxIGotThis? :)

Also even though he is wearing ski boots I can't help but assume he is overly self aware in his gait. Or has mud butt.

I dug it! Maybe we'll see more sport/urbex mash-ups. Like storm drain luge.

Previously, for those of you interested in Whittier, Alaska, where the video takes place. The building he skies through once housed the entire population of the town.

Wait a minute, wait a minute ... where'd the momentum come from to ski up that hill and back into the building through a window?

As they say in Alaska, It's Shittier in Whittier.

Eh. Even "natural" ski trails tend to require grooming.

Common misunderstanding. Momentum is conserved throughout the internet, not within an individual webpage. So the momentum apparently lost by "cat runs into wall" reappears in "skier accelerates up hill".
