putting the high in high fantasy

FYI: Chivalry is now a game about knights in low gravity, screaming and screaming and screaming.

"That's just like Ziggurat Vertigo", you say. "From Quake," you clarify. Sort of! Of which: a speedrun of that famous level. Couldn't follow the action there? No problem, here's a helpful walkthrough, in German.

It's good to see the Virtua Fighter 2 engine still getting work after all these years.

For some reason this mod always exists, for every game with mods, ever. If the game also has guns, the mod will include instagib lasers that fire 1 million times per second. Everyone's first impulse always seems to be "dial everything to eleven!"

I was sceptical at first but the mid-air sword battles totally won me over.

And now I require this game.

Reminds me of that recurring dream I have, where I can jump really, really far, like the Hulk, in languid slow-motion - only with more screaming and fighting and fewer conversations with my spirit-totem, which is either a parking meter or a folding chair associated with ice-cream somehow, I can never get a good look at it.

Hilariously hellish.

It's definitely the screams of distress that make this. It's as though the knights are terrified at the sorcery that would create such a heinous realm.

This sounds like a thousand Sam Kinisons fighting over the remaining grain of coke.

Whoa. I have the same dream.

Yeah I totally have floating long-jump dreams too. I think those dreams are some sort of intersection between flying and falling dreams: "I'm just gonna hop over this... WHOAHhhhhhhhhhhhh WHERE AM I GOING TO LAAAAAAND?! THOMP! Oh OK. That ended alright. I guess I'll just hop over here then... WHOOOOOAAAAAA"

Over and over again.

On second thought, lets not go to the private Camelot sever. Tis a silly place.

If George RR Martin hasn't finished the books in time, the Game of Thrones series finale should just be 20 minutes of this.

So is this a good game?

This goes on for how long? Ten minutes, you say?

As a programmer, I can't help but think that if the screaming were triggered by rate of acceleration instead of just height, the knights would adapt to the low gravity enenvironment without so much trauma.

Tried this out last night, it's definitely silly fun. Though the server I found had the gravity set not quite as low as in this video. If anyone is wondering, just put "gravity" into the server name filter and a few should pop up. They had very low ping in the browser but I joined anyways and my ping ended up being just fine.

selfnoise: this "mod" commonly exists because it's usually not an actual mod! It's generally just a server variable. Already baked into the code, the server admin can just adjust their configuration.

empath: without this mod, yes, this is a fantastic game for what it is. In a lot of ways, it reminds me of online FPS games of years past. I managed to grab it for $8 on a sale a while back and it's been worth every penny. They recently did a big update which introduced new weapons, a new "duel" gamemode, a CTF mode, and a bunch of new maps.

Because I watched that video just a short while after this one, I couldn't help but imagine that all the players were goats. Which, to be honest, was pretty great.

Please tell me someone is offering a screaming goat avatar for this game.

I can't believe I watched the whole thing.

Actually, I can, because that was amazing.
