A baby elephant goes for a swim. Pretty much what it says on the tin. Happy Sunday.

I'm getting the double spinning pinwheel of death when I try to load this, on both Chrome and Firefox...

Two things:

1) Was anyone else afraid it was going to drown?

2) Salt water in your trunk seems like a nightmare to me.

MCMikeNamara, I wondered if there were enough lifeguards on the whole coast to save it if it got caught in a riptide.

That said, it made me smile.

Does the baby elephant know about baby sharks? just sayin'....

I like to think the chuckling people had the baby elephant's safety in mind. Because cute.

I suspect they are buoyant enough to deal with it.

I can't tell if this sounds more like a folk song that Harry Belafonte might have made popular or a missing chapter from Just So Stories.

Sure, it may look cute, but I'm not ok with filming swimming babies without their trunks.

"...without their trunks...."

I see what you did there.

That is one goddamn ridiculously happy babby elephant. May his/her life always be so.

I want that on a loop so I can just have that guy playing in the water on my computer screen while I work.

Plus, you know, built-in snorkel.

Cynical, I know, but every time I see an elephant in Thailand, I cringe wondering if they were beaten and tortured into submission. They still do stuff like this, behind the scenes and not in front of the throngs of Phuket tourists.

I want to live alone with that elephant and we would be best friends, play in the ocean together, and I would fall asleep on his or her back on the ride home.

I once shot an elephant in my bathing suit. How he got in my bathing suit I'll never know.

Awwwwwwww

I'm sold. We don't have nearly enough elephants on the US Gulf Coast.

Can't site my source here, but I have read that elephants can, and do, swim. They have been seen far out at sea, happily swimming along.

I'd like to see an elephant do the butterfly, if only for dramatic contrast.

How does a ten-ton elephant swim?

Any way he wants to.

Even when they're bigger than most of my furniture, happy babies still look like happy babies.

I have someplace, a lovely picture of elephants swimming. They were under water snorkeling.
