"Mohammed, do you ever get that 'not so fresh' feeling?"

"Mohammed, do you ever get that 'not so fresh' feeling?" The Captions Blog takes press photos and adds humorous fictitious comments. One of my favorites is a photo of two military men wrestling. The caption reads, "Soldiers prepare for Operation Sweet Sweet Lovin'." Kudos to the highly amusing moderator and creator Jeff Druzba. He seems to have prevented this site from devolving into the baffling inside references and unfunny gross-out jokes that proliferate on other group "humor" blogs.

I used to know of another one that I loved, loved, loved, but which seems to have vanished in a site redesign. :(

Post-John Carson, Post-SNL, Post-Jay Leno, this has got to be the cheapest, lamest attempt at humor going.

Yeah, Paris, cause they invented funny captions. Before Carson, people looked at funny pictures with blank, humorless stares.

Mightygirl, I think your blog is even funnier sometimes. Such as, "11.12.01 NOE VALLEY MOMENT. Sign in a shop window on my walk home: "Interested in cheese classes? Inquire within!!!" And the sad truth? I'm totally interested in cheese classes." and, "11.14.01 REALIZATION. My gynecologist's office is on Bush Street." LOL!

I'm actually with Paris on this one.

He seems to have prevented this site from devolving into the baffling inside references and unfunny gross-out jokes that proliferate on other group "humor" blogs.

And he's replaced them with humor culled from junior-high bull sessions, circa 1990. And unfunny ungross-out jokes.

Scratch that -- this one's hopelessly unfunny and gross.

I'm reluctant to say anything in this thread. Sheesh.

Anyway, I won a shirt from realscott's caption game once.

Is there anything you guys WON'T knock? Metafilter seems filled with people whose only comments are along the lines of "that sucked" "No, I think it sucked more." You all seem to compete to see who hates something the most.

If it's not that, then it's debating whether or not you deem something important enough to be posted on the front page. The whole spirit of Metafilter is getting destroyed. I'm not saying you have to like everything, but really if this is just a forum for knocking things, then what's the point?

Jubey's post really sucked.

I'm just glad it wasn't on the front page.

Humor's a complex recipe, and these guys don't seem to have the proportions right yet. Some of the ideas are good but undercut by weak execution, and there were a couple genuinely funny ones as well.

Paris must really be burning if this site is truly the "cheapest and lamest". Get out more, guy! There's far worse out there.

OTOH, it is hard for the humorist to make fiction that's funnier than reality in days like these.

I actually think his captions are a hootenanny. I'd like to meet this "Jeff Druzba" and shake his hand.
