At some point in their life, everyone thinks they should go to law school. You may in fact think you want to go to law school now. You're wrong. Tucker Max on Why You Should Not Go to Law School.

Haven't we had this discussion like a hundred times already? With far more informed and knowledgeable sources than Tucker Max?

Why can't we just read the law and become a lawyer that way like Lincoln did? I'd do it if that was the way to become a lawyer.

Screw the insanely pricey monopoly of higher education.

Hopefully this is all a part of his, er, rehabilitation from his former life as a walking plague. He's a skilled writer and he's got the weight of his audience behind his words. If we were all rightfully afraid of his ability to convince men to treat women the godawful way he treated women, it is then, perhaps, a good thing if he convinces a bunch of aimless English majors to not destroy their future livelihoods by doing something phenomenally short-sighted and stupid.

There's a joke in here about him plying young women with alcohol and passing the "bar" exam but I just. can't. find it.

A humanities major now has many, many options they didn't have in the pre-Internet era.

"Why? Because a services and information-based economy needs what the Humanities creates: literate, intelligent, well-read people who can write and communicate ideas effectively. The demand for these people is not going to flutter out. In fact, it will only grow stronger as the economy continues to shift and the supply of qualified candidates remains insufficient. Do not make the mistake of thinking law school is your only option. That is simply not true. In plain English: A humanities major now has many, many options they didn't have in the pre-Internet era."

Seconding griphus. But I can't believe I'm reading the same Tucker Max as I was reading when I was an idiot in high school.

God do I hate Tucker Max. For most people though, he's not wrong; law school is often a bad move. This is not really breaking news.
