Israel has gone from its earliest days as a socialist state--the kibbutzes--to a capitalist place, with very few of the kibbutzes now socialist and instead now capitalist enterprises. And in this change, like the US, a very small super wealthy run most things, and that is why not very long ago, there was the Occupy like protests in Tel Aviv demanding better wages, housing costs, food costs etc.
