Tripod are an Australian comedy trio primarily known for the parodic humor, amusing lyrics, and musical talent displayed in their many performances on TV and at festivals. In 2010, Scod, Yon, and Gatesy teamed up with jazz singer Elana Stone to perform their greatest work yet: a two hour musical set in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign.

My absolute favorite song from Tripod is called "King Kong" because it really put together all my thoughts I had about the Peter Jackson remake into one song.

It's very tasteful.

As for me? I have a bit of 'Gonna Make You Happy Tonight' as my incoming text sound - it's very soothing.

Which bit?

As much fun as it would be to have something like "I'll see you in the bed then!", it's just a little croony bit that goes 'Take your time, no hurry.'

Like I said, soothing.

I really need to get into these guys. Their website used to look like an old D&D book - it was perfect. See also: The Axis of Awesome.

Firstly, that was fucking hilarious. Secondly, now I'm in love with Elana Stone forever. So thanks for that, I guess.

Hmm, I closed that comment out to soon, because this musical is bracketed by some brilliant songwriting on both ends, not to mention the final song that I wish I had heard ten years ago. Posts like this are what make metafilter worth its weight in gold coins.

Well, I'm off to their gig tonight. So yay. And yay the comedy fest in general. I didn't buy the tix this year, so I've fuck all idea what I'll be seeing over the next couple of weeks...
