"Bras are a false necessity"

Women are better off without bras. Professor Jean-Denis Rouillon has spent 15 years measuring 130 women's breasts with a slide rule and calipers, and concludes “Medically, physiologically, anatomically – breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity".

This post was deleted for the following reason: This is sort of interesting but it's a single link super short news article that is mostly HURF DURF comments. Maybe dig up the original article so there's some there there and we can all wax nostalgic about brassieres? I went looking and I couldn't find it. -- jessamyn

Oh, sure, he was "studying" "brassiere science" with his "slide rule."

We've all heard that line before, Professor.

But isn't part of the reason for bras just that it's nice to have things not moving around so much when you're, say, playing tennis or jogging? And if so, it it not classic that a dude would totally ignore female comfort in favor of "did it make for better looking breasts?"

Well, let's see, it was 1963, and I was just out of high school...

(here we go again)

No problem. But let's do without disco and shoulder pads this time...

Ugggggh that thing where you're in your pajamas except you forgot it's garbage day and you have to dash around the house with one arm making a boob shelf while you try to get the recycling out using your one regular arm and your brand-new T-rex boob-shelf arm and then you run out of the house and probably your neighbor is outside and looking at your headlights through your tee-shirt OH THE HUMANITY.

I'm sure you're delightful, France, for many various and sundry reasons. However, I have placed you in a category of nations (alongside Italy) from whose academicians I will never, never trust any piece of "scholarship" regarding women and/or gender issues. Especially if it comes from a man. Sorry.

I'll hold my interest for when he releases the similar study 'boxers: not medically necessary'.

Yes, exactly, freebird.

I do not believe most women wear bras to spare their backs. I wear one because bouncing is uncomfortable. And to avoid the nipply thing, which is purely cultural of course, but it's the culture I like in, so whatevs.
