The problem with this embryonic meme is that it carefully excludes baseball, so as not to evoke the image of kittens being hit by bats, which in turn leads one look at the violence being done (or about to be done) in almost every other instance.

For years, confused elderly people have asked "I just don't get it--what's the point of this whole internet thing?"

And now we know.

I love a good game of sports ball.

Thank heavens someone has figured out a way to fit more cats into the Internet.

I personally would like to see one with a field goal being kicked, but I'm not a cat person.

"Of course it was a goal; look at the replay, clearly over the line, even if only by a whisker!"

The sheer absurdity of this appeals to me...ow.

The football player lining up a corner kitty-kick put this over the top for me.

I went for serious lols. I came out with... nothing.

Pseudomeme (n, made up): all the components of a meme achieving none of the sticking power.

I was very hopeful clicking the link, but it just didn't come together for me. Too bad.

Seconding orme: NO ONE would be playing cat-based-*ball with exposed skin.

Unfortunately, hockey uses pucks rather than balls. Because I could watch cat-hockey all day.

What are the toughest small mammals that still have a lousy grip on the ground? I'm thinking nerf, waxed tile and no raising the stick above ankle level. Live animal hockey, here we come.

Hedgehogs are of course traditional. There are records of them being used for croquet dating back to the 1800's.

Tennis, volleyball, and hockey of those little hairballs would be nice to see.

When I clicked on this I was erroneously thinking that "sport balls" meant those balls they use to fill up ball pits. I expected to see (a photo-shopped version of) adults and kids jumping up and down in a pit full of kittens. I'm relieved for the sake of all those shopped-kitties that that is not the case.

I would personally love to see all these sports personalities after being clawed by sports cats.
