Not quite retirement age yet

The Washington Spirit are a professional soccer team in the National Women's Soccer League. Like many of the lower earning professional sports, they have to be creative about costs, and often arrange host families for their players. Instead of host parents, Diana Matheson and Robyn Gayle got host grandparents. Several hundred of them.

She learned that one resident is a confirmed descendant of Chinese philosopher Confucius, 76 generations removed.

I'd like to know how that got confirmed! A family quilt passed down 2500 years. Really.

Granted, I am sure having two Olympic players in a retirement home, makes the residents feel great, and makes them want to dish great stories, I just wouldn't believe everyone of them.

Awww... I would both love doing this as a host and enjoy myself if I were one of the guests.

I have to say that these two women sure have a great attitude. Almost unbelievably so. Although it does sound like a nice apartment.

Yeah, I'm assuming the Post didn't exactly verify some of the details here. But it's charming color for the story.

Though, huh, apparently it is a thing. Not exactly an uncommon thing, and knowable.
