I AM LAID LOW BY THE MATRIARCHY

"A quick editorial cartoon about the intersection of self-pity, entitlement, rape, territoriality, misogyny and fear of women. You see it all over the place online in the form of Men's Rights Activists (of whom there are a few reasonable non-misogynists), Men Going Their Own Way, Pick Up Artists, and dudes touting the "Red Pill", because The Matrix is a good movie. Look any of these up if you have the stomach for it. These are extreme examples, but watered-down forms of these ideas are everywhere."

Wasn't this already deleted today?

Why would it have been deleted? This is a thing, as much as anything else that makes a FPP.

The Whelk posted it. It was there, and then it wasn't.

It was specifically marked "This post has been deleted" in bright red.

Before this gets deleted will someone please explain the "take the red pill" thing? Apparently I haven't been hanging out enough on the Men's Rights Subreddit.

40 seconds, well done given the medium and the time constraint, bound to elicit "conversation"... I'm just gonna go over here and make some popcorn and open another bottle of wine.

Quick google: Red Pill

"A popular term in the men’s movement (particulalry from A Voice for Men) which describes the choice to face and deal with tough and often nasty realities, rather than the easy illusions of life. If you take the Red Pill, you look at the world as it is and not as it is often protrayed by government, the media and by other organisations with various agenda’s. Red Pill men are quite rare and tend towards being Zeta Males. Red Pill women are much rarer, but they do exist

A Red Pill person does not buy the fallacy that domestic violence is only caused and perpetrated by men
A Red Pill person questions the factoids they are often presented with on TV (1 in 4 women are raped; 1 in 4 women are abused; 1 in 4 women are decapitated, etc)
A Red Pill man understands how chivalry is a tool used to oppress him and chooses not to be a White Knight
A Red Pill man understands that women are not made of sugar and spice and that men are not made of frogs and snails
Et al
"

god why on earth would this merit a deletion. It's an interesting, odd little video. WTH.

I chuckled ...

Then I realized there really is a Men's Right's Subreddit.

: sigh :

Wow. Did not know this was a thing. And did not know it was such a thing that it was so easily googled. Thanks.

I am one of the few human beings on planet earth who thinks the Matrix was an utterly mediocre bit of intellectual sophistry. No one wants to talk to me at parties.

I'm a little baffled as to the deletion. Yes, fears of misandry are oft-discussed here. So are many other topics. The deletion seems completely arbitrary.

I don't find the cartoon particularly illuminating, nor a particularly useful conversation starter. But it is graphically interesting and a strong statement. I disagree with the total lack of grey area, subtlety, etc., but that doesn't mean I think it oughta be excluded.

Is there some kind of rule I don't know about that it violates?

I actually thought I was making that one up. I love when reality conforms with my sarcastic asides.

I'm for not deleting this FPP.

Agree with the original deletion. Does not promote discussion other than pointing at MRA's and saying LOOK AT THOSE STOOPIDHEADS and won't benefit the blue at all.

I am for having discussing about metafilter issues in metatalk, where they belong.
